Frequently Asked Questions about the Explorer Series

Who is the Explorer Series for?

The Explorer Series is ideal for specialty coffee lovers who want to discover new origins, new producers, and new aromatic profiles. Whether you're new to specialty coffee or just looking for a great everyday coffee, this collection offers a balance of discovery, quality, and accessibility.

What is the difference between the Explorer Series and the Exceptional Series?

The Explorer Series brings together specialty coffees carefully selected for their quality, balance, and versatility. The Exceptional Series, on the other hand, includes the rarest coffees in our selection: exclusive microlots, varieties such as Gesha or Sidra, very limited productions, and coffees with unique sensory profiles.

Are the coffees in the Explorer Series suitable for both filter and espresso?

Yes. The majority of our coffees can be enjoyed both as filter coffee and espresso. However, each product page indicates the brewing method we recommend to achieve the best result in the cup.

Which countries are featured in the Explorer Series?

The collection is constantly evolving according to available harvests. You will regularly find coffees from Colombia, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Panama, Costa Rica, Bolivia, and other major specialty coffee producing countries.

Do coffees change throughout the year?

Yes. Coffee is a seasonal agricultural product. Harvests evolve throughout the months, which means that some coffees return every year while others are only available for a few weeks. The Explorer Series is therefore constantly evolving to offer the freshest harvests possible.

Are the coffees freshly roasted?

Yes. All coffees in the Explorer Series are roasted in small batches in our workshop in Sainte-Julie, Quebec. We ship our coffees a few days after roasting so that they arrive at their best aromatic potential.

Why do tasting notes sound like fruits or desserts?

Tasting notes do not mean that ingredients have been added to the coffee. They simply describe the aromas naturally present after roasting and extraction. Depending on its origin, variety, and processing method, a coffee can evoke peach, blueberries, chocolate, honey, jasmine, or citrus.
